Manage information technology and computer systems
Plan, organize, control and evaluate IT and electronic data operations
Design, develop, implement and coordinate systems, policies and procedures
Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems
Act in alignment with user needs and system functionality to contribute to organizational policy
Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions in time
Preserve assets, information security and control structures
Consulting computer users to ascertain needs and to ensure that facilities meet user or project requirements
Selecting and purchasing appropriate hardware and software
Ensuring software licensing laws are followed
Scheduling upgrades of software where necessary
Providing user training, support, advice and feedback
Testing and modifying systems to ensure that that they operate reliably
Managing secure network access for remote users
Maintains Firm’s effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies
Preserves assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures.
Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.
Accomplishes financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective action.
Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards
The IT Manager is responsible for overseeing systems installation and integration efforts, manages expectations and works to prevent interruption to IT services and loss of productivity.
The IT Manager assists in the budget process and helps to prioritize technology initiatives, plans for technology growth and oversees the organization’s technology portfolio.
The IT Manager is an advocate for the use of technology systems and ensures information assets are in place and operational.
The IT Manager assists in developing and managing technology operating budgets, reviewing and approving IT spending and understanding the cost elements related to the delivery of technology projects, products and systems.
Provides the Firm with expert opinions on new and emerging technologies that might become useful for doing business.
Recommends purchases of technology that will increase business efficiency, save money and facilitate corporate extension.
Recruits and trains staff when necessary.
Communicates with other departments in the Firm about business needs.
Creates IT policies and procedures that support the efforts of the IT Department and other departments within the Firm.
Oversees the monitoring and maintenance of IT assets across the company.
Plans the lifespan of all the company’s technologies, including anticipated upgrades and replacements.
Ensures that technology systems are available around the clock and establishes disaster recovery or contingency plans to assure business continuity.
Hires contractors and outsources when necessary to assure the Firm has all of the best-of-breed technologies and services at its disposal.
Maintains technical and professional knowledge by attending educational workshops and conferences, reviewing professional publications and participating in professional societies.
Any other roles as may be assigned.

EXPERIENCE:

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or similar field or equivalent experience. A minimum of 4 years’ experience in a professional services information technology position.
Previous experience as an IT Manager, Lead, or Specialist in a law firm environment is preferred

SKILLS (ALL ESSENTIAL):

Proven working experience as an IT manager or relevant experience
Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems
Expertise in data center management and data governance
Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation
Advanced knowledge of PC, server and Storage Area Network (SAN) technologies.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft based networking protocols.
Experience with voice and data telecommunications systems.
Experience with remote access technologies for support and office connectivity.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
Ability to work efficiently, in an organized manner and with attention to detail.
Ability to communicate effectively regarding technical matters, both verbally and in writing
Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task and organize others.
Ability to work under pressure and be flexible as part of a small team.
Attention to detail and deadlines.
Ability to filter information and assess priorities.
