SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Instructor of Chemical Engineering will be responsible for teaching and supporting students learning both inside and outside the classroom. She/he shall work closely with the Departmental Chair and Dean of the school in formulating and implementing course structure that would translate to effective teaching and learning in the School of Engineering as well as engaging students with other resource assignments in accordance with the prescribed policies and procedures of the American University of Nigeria.
DETAILED LISTING OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching: The primary responsibility of a faculty member is for teaching and for supporting student learning both inside and outside the classroom.
Class Attendance: Faculty members should make clear that students are expected to attend class and complete required assignments.
Academic Advising: Shall advise students and also be available to assist students throughout the semester.
Department/Schools Meetings: Attending meetings on a regular basis and as necessary to facilitate communication and to accomplish the work required for the smooth operation of the department and school.
Attendance at Academic Functions: Full-time faculty members are expected to attend meetings of the faculty and any all-college meetings called by AUN administration.
Research: Faculty members are to engage in research activities that will promote self-development and the University
Community Service: Faculty are to contribute to AUN community service and development activities
Work directly with the departmental head/Dean to develop the annual courses
Perform Other duties as assigned by the Dean/Chair.
Requirements for the position:
BSc. and MSc. degrees in Chemical Engineering from a recognized tertiary institution with at least three years of experience in laboratory development and teaching at the university level.
Ability to maintain, run and teach undergraduate laboratories in the areas of separation process/reaction engineering/process simulation including expertise in Aspen Plus & HYSYS.
Must be able to set up experiments and supervise students during lab sessions and handle all aspects of lab preparation as needed.
They are expected to qualify to teach freshman and sophomore level chemical engineering courses as well as assist in conducting basic and applied research in collaboration with engineering faculty members.
Suitable candidates are expected to be familiar with technology infused academic environments.

Conducting laboratory sessions for chemical engineering courses at university level
Designing of Experiments
Using laboratory software applications such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, ChemCAD, Matlab, MathCAD, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and LabView
Interfacing laboratory equipment with computers
Using chemical engineering laboratory equipment such as separation columns, reactors, advanced analytical equipment.
Performing system integration
Hardware trouble shooting and equipment calibration experience
