This role is pivotal in fulfilling missionaries’ calling to ‘Invite others to come unto Christ by assisting them in embracing the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.’ Teachers serve as entry-level contributors, offering support by instructing missionaries across diverse settings and subjects. Training encompasses language proficiency, gospel doctrine, Preach My Gospel instruction, and the development of missionary skills. They prepare both junior and senior missionaries prior to their MTC assignment, during their time at the MTC, and after their departure. Teachers adhere to an established curriculum and may be chosen to engage in pilot programs and special initiatives.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties to ensure operational excellence and strategic alignment within the organization. Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve key performance indicators and deliver high-quality results. Develop, implement, and monitor processes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and compliance with industry standards. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement and drive continuous innovation. Maintain accurate records, prepare detailed reports, and present findings to senior leadership to support data-driven decision-making. Manage budgets, allocate resources effectively, and optimize expenditures to maximize return on investment. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional development among team members. Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements while mitigating risks across all business activities. Serve as a liaison between departments to facilitate seamless communication and alignment with organizational goals.

The position is accountable to a trainer or supervisor within the Training department.

Delivers guidance, mentorship, and constructive feedback to missionaries across various training formats, including individualized coaching sessions, small group discussions, large-scale workshops, and oversight of Canvas engagement metrics and discussion forums.

Plans and designs lessons in accordance with the approved curriculum, collaborating with a companion teacher (when applicable) to address the missionary’s requirements.

Oversees the planning and financial management activities of missionaries to ensure effective learning outcomes.

Implements guidance and instruction provided by the Teacher Trainer/Supervisor, the Manager of Training, and the Senior Manager of Training.

Participates in weekly training sessions and co-teacher coordination meetings.

Collaborates with area leadership to facilitate coordination with mission and Missionary Department leadership as needed.

Prepares and delivers updates regarding the status and development of delegated responsibilities to senior management.

Experienced educators provide mentorship to missionaries, guiding them through the planning phases, execution of practice sessions, and delivery of live lessons to ensure optimal learning outcomes.

Candidates may be called upon to evaluate the language proficiency of missionaries and teacher applicants in the target language.

May assume supplementary duties as an Actor, portraying an individual unaffiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ who seeks information about its teachings.

Assigned duties may expand to encompass the role of a Training Area Assistant, contingent upon available work hours.

Additional responsibilities may encompass other short-term assignments at the Mission Training Center (MTC), such as providing support during the Mission Leadership Seminar.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in software development, with at least 3 years specializing in backend systems. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go. Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and system design principles. Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP is highly desirable. Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced environments. Strong communication skills to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required:

Prospective candidates must have completed a full-time missionary assignment.

Proficiency in the designated second language is essential for roles involving language instruction.

Accomplished coaching, facilitation, and training expertise with a proven ability to inspire and develop individuals and teams.

A solid grasp of Preach My Gospel is essential, along with the ability to apply its principles effectively.

Exceptional interpersonal abilities, strong prioritization capabilities, a high level of professionalism, and demonstrated leadership experience are essential.

Highly proactive and skilled at collaborating effectively with colleagues.

Open to receiving and incorporating constructive feedback to enhance performance and drive continuous improvement.

A solid grasp of proven language-learning methodologies is essential for applicants in language teaching roles.

Highly developed communication and organizational capabilities are essential, enabling effective management of tasks and interactions.

Fluent verbal and written proficiency in English is required, along with strong command of a second language for teaching roles. For ASL instructors, exceptional non-verbal communication skills are essential.

To effectively fulfill the primary responsibilities of this role, the position may necessitate certain physical capabilities, including prolonged periods of sitting or standing, as well as the operation of monitors and other equipment.

Preferred:

Candidates should possess prior experience instructing or providing tutoring services within an MTC classroom environment.

Proficiency in utilizing various digital communication platforms, such as chat and video conferencing tools, is required.
