Human Resources & Legal Manager

Our client operates in the finance sector, providing access to financing, investment opportunities, wealth management and other financial solutions to individuals and SMEs.

Specific Responsibilities

Participates in the development and implementation of the Human Resource Strategic Plan
Monitors service levels and quarterly data reports to adjust the human resource plan as required
Ensures all necessary human resource policies, programs, and procedures are developed and implemented in accordance with best human resources practices
Serves as a legal resource to the senior management team on human resource issues and initiatives
Collaborates with other departments to manage legal risk and ensure legal compliance in business activities
Develops, Implements, and manages an appropriate employee recognition program
Establishes policies and procedures/mechanisms for performance management; provides consultation and support to managers and supervisors with respect to performance management and staff disciplinary decisions
Ensures the appropriate maintenance of Human Resources Employee data including the integrity of data in the HRIS/information management systems, in consultation with IT, as appropriate
Manages relationships with external legal counsel and regulatory authorities
Ensures consistent application of all compensation and benefits policies and practices across the agency

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree, L.L.B. combined with a minimum of three years’ experience of law practice
Proven working experience as an HR Manager 
Advanced knowledge of legislation governing human resources and labour relations such as the Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Act, Pay Equity Act, Human Rights Code
Professional qualifications such as CIPM, SPHRI, CIPD etc
Two or more years post call-to-bar experience
Competency in developing learning framework and PM strategies
Demonstrable experience with Human Resources metrics
Knowledge of HR systems and databases
