Job Overview

The Health and Safety Officer (Transport) oversees transportation operations at Denote Cement Transport to ensure strict adherence to all health and safety regulations. Responsibilities encompass designing, deploying, and enforcing safety programs uniquely customized to the demands of transportation activities.

Responsible for overseeing and executing a range of duties essential to the role, including managing daily operations, coordinating team efforts, ensuring compliance with company policies, and driving project outcomes. Conduct thorough investigations into accidents and incidents to identify underlying causes and propose effective corrective measures.

Maintain meticulous safety records and compile detailed reports to evaluate transportation safety performance.

Serve as an intermediary for safety-related matters concerning the transportation fleet and its drivers.

Evaluate the performance of current safety initiatives and recommend enhancements to optimize their impact.

Attend safety meetings and deliver key safety data along with actionable insights to leadership.

Requirements

A Bachelor of Science degree in Safety Management, Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline is required.

A recognized certification in Occupational Health and Safety, such as BOSH, JOSH, or an equivalent qualification, is required.

A minimum of two years of hands-on experience in a safety-focused position within the transportation or logistics industry is required.

A degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a closely related field—ideally within the sciences or engineering disciplines—is required.

A recognized certification or diploma in fire, safety, health, or environmental management serves as a valuable asset, with credentials such as BOSH, IGC, or NVQ Level 6 being particularly noteworthy.

Familiarity with fleet safety management principles is required.

Proficient in health and safety regulations governing transportation operations, ensuring full compliance with applicable standards and protocols.

Strong proficiencies and personal attributes required for success in this role include a blend of technical expertise, interpersonal capabilities, and professional demeanor. Candidates must demonstrate a proven track record in relevant competencies, exceptional problem-solving aptitude, and the ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
