Job Description
A Home Economics Teacher, also known as a family and consumer science teacher, teaches students how to manage their homes and prepare for adulthood.
They create lesson plans, teach students, and assess their progress.
Responsibilities
Create lesson plans: Develop lesson plans that teach the approved curriculum
Teach: Deliver lectures, demonstrate skills, and provide feedback to students
Assess: Use assessments to measure student progress and grade homework
Follow safety protocols: Ensure students are safe when using household equipment like stoves and sewing machines
Attend staff meetings: Participate in required staff meetings.
Job Requirements
Education:
Earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Consumer Science or Education with 3-4 years work experience.
Pass general knowledge and subject area exams to obtain a teaching license.
