Position Overview:

The Head of Primary School will be a dynamic leader responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the primary school division. This role involves overseeing the educational programs, staff development, student welfare, community engagement, and the continuous improvement of the school’s curriculum and teaching practices. The Head of Primary School will work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and the wider community to create an enriching and inclusive environment for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

  Lead, inspire, and support a team of educators in delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
  Foster a positive school culture that promotes collaboration, respect, and high expectations for all students and staff.
  Develop and implement the school’s vision and strategic objectives for the primary school division.

Curriculum Development:

  Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of the primary school curriculum in line with national standards and best practices.
 Teach Mathematics in upper primary classes or any other subject of interest
  Ensure that the curriculum is inclusive, engaging, and responsive to the needs of all learners.
  Promote innovative teaching methodologies and the effective integration of technology in the classroom.

Staff Development and Support:

  Recruit, mentor, and evaluate teaching staff, promoting professional development and continuous learning.
  Conduct regular performance appraisals and provide constructive feedback to staff to enhance their teaching practices.
  Facilitate professional development opportunities aligned with both individual and school-wide goals.

Student Welfare and Development:

  Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment that supports the social, emotional, and academic well-being of all students.
  Implement strategies for effective behavior management and conflict resolution.
  Collaborate with specialists and counselors to provide additional support for students with varying needs.

Community Engagement:

  Act as a liaison between the school, parents, and the wider community to foster strong relationships and effective communication.
  Organize and participate in school events, workshops, and parent-teacher meetings that promote community involvement and support student learning.
  Advocate for the school and its mission within the local community and educational landscape.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  Develop and implement systems for assessing student performance and school effectiveness.
  Regularly analyze academic data to inform instructional practices and school improvement plans.
  Prepare reports and presentations for the school board and other stakeholders on the progress of the primary school division.

Financial and Resource Management:

  Manage the primary school’s budget and resources effectively, ensuring financial accountability and sustainability.
  Identify opportunities for external funding and partnerships to enhance the school’s programs and initiatives.

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Valid teaching credentials and administrative certification (where applicable).
Significant experience in a leadership role within a primary education setting.
Proven track record of effective curriculum development and instructional leadership.
Strong understanding of child development, educational psychology, and current best practices in education.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
