Job Description

Our football academy is committed to nurturing young football talents and offering them pathways to excel at the highest levels. We are looking for a seasoned Head of Marketing Communication to become part of our team and spearhead our marketing and communication initiatives. The Head of Marketing Communication will be responsible for creating and executing marketing and communication strategies aimed at enhancing the football academy’s brand, drawing in new talent, fostering engagement with stakeholders and reporting directly to the Head of business operations.

Location – Lagos

 Job Responsibilities:  

Marketing and Communication Strategy Implementation

Formulate and implement a detailed marketing strategy.  
Conduct market analysis and evaluate industry developments.  
Identify key demographics and create customized marketing initiatives.
Create and execute a communication plan.  
Oversee both internal and external communication efforts.  
Draft and disseminate press releases

 Digital Marketing and Content Creation

Oversee social media channels.  
Design and implement email marketing strategies.  
Enhance website content and user experience.  
Produce captivating content (videos, graphics, written material).  
Collaborate with the media team to generate high-quality outputs.  
Oversee the content schedule.  

Brand Management and Media Relations

Preserve and strengthen the academy’s brand image.  
Guarantee uniform branding across all platforms.  
Establish brand standards.
Cultivate connections with media organizations.  
Obtain media exposure for the academy.  
Handle media inquiries.

Event Management  

Plan and oversee events (such as tournaments and trials).  
Coordinate logistics and promotional activities.  
Ensure the successful execution of events.  

Budget Management  

Administer the marketing budget.  
Monitor expenditures and return on investment.  

Team Management  

Direct and oversee the marketing and communication team.  
Offer guidance and support.  
Foster the development of team members’ skills.  

Qualification/Requirements:  

HND/BSc/MBA in any relevant program
Relevant Certification in marketing or communications e.g. Certified Marketing Professional (CMP), Digital Marketing Certification, Certified Marketing Specialist (CMS), Certified Sports Marketing Professional (CSMP), Certified Sports Executive (CSE) etc., is an added advantage
Minimum of 8+ years of experience in marketing and communication.
Proven track record of successful marketing campaigns.
Strong understanding of the sports industry.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Knowledge of digital marketing trends.
Strategic thinking and planning.
Creative problem-solving.
Budget management.
Good leadership and interpersonal skills
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.  
Ability to thrive under pressure and meet deadlines.  
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.  

KPI Targets

Increase brand awareness by 30% within 6 months
Boost website traffic by 40% within 3 months
Secure 4 new sponsors within 12 months
Increase ticket sales revenue by 15% within 12 months (that is if there is a stadium)
Achieve a social media engagement rate of 10% within 6 months
