Job Summary
The Head of Legal and Corporate Services will provide strategic legal guidance and ensure regulatory compliance while overseeing corporate governance and administrative functions. The role requires a proactive and business-oriented professional with strong leadership skills tsupport the company’s objectives and protect its interests.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Advisory
Provide expert legal advice on all aspects of the company’s operations, including property acquisitions, sales, and leasing.
Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents, contracts, and agreements.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Manage litigation and dispute resolution processes in coordination with external counsel.
Strategic Planning
Collaborate with senior management talign legal and corporate strategies with business goals.
Identify and mitigate potential legal risks that could affect operations or growth.
Stay updated on relevant laws, trends, and best practices in the real estate sector.
Leadership and Team Management
Lead and manage the legal and corporate services team tachieve departmental objectives.
Provide mentorship and guidance tteam members tenhance their professional development.
Foster a culture of compliance, professionalism, and ethical practices within the organization.
Corporate Governance
Develop and maintain corporate policies tensure effective governance and compliance.
Oversee the organization’s regulatory filings, board resolutions, and shareholder agreements.
Serve as the company secretary, ensuring proper documentation of board meetings and decisions.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB); possession of a Master’s degree or certifications in corporate governance is an added advantage.
10 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role. Experience in the real estate or construction industry is preferred.
Membership in the Nigerian Bar Association or other relevant professional bodies.
