General Description:
The Head of Human Resources will support the company by designing and implementing HR initiatives that align with the corporate strategy, driving organizational growth and success. This role will focus on developing and executing impactful programs in critical HR areas, including learning and development, employee engagement, retention, career progression, performance management, compensation and benefits, talent acquisition, leadership development, organizational culture, and employee well-being, ensuring that these initiatives contribute to the achievement of the company’s objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
HR Strategy Design: Develop an HR strategy that supports each business unit and ensures alignment with the corporate strategy.
HR Advisory: Provide HR advisory services to the Executive Management team, offering insights and recommendations on people-related issues.
Forecasting HR Needs: Anticipate and plan for future HR needs in line with business growth and changes.
Recruitment Management: Oversee the recruitment process, including sourcing and attracting top talent through headhunting, recruitment agencies, strategic advertising, and other methods.
Performance Management: Drive the implementation of the performance management framework, ensuring goals are set to align with business objectives, regular performance checks are conducted, and outcomes are effectively acted upon.
Employee Records Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, ensuring that all HR data is securely stored and compliant with legal requirements.
Policy Design: Design and implement HR policies for Afriland that ensure compliance and promote a positive workplace culture.
Compensation & Benefits: Conduct periodic compensation and benefits surveys to ensure Afriland’s pay structure remains competitive within the industry.
Employment Legislation: Interpret and advise on employment legislation, ensuring company policies and practices comply with the law.
Grievance and Discipline Management: Address grievances and implement disciplinary procedures in line with company policies and legal standards.
Onboarding & Induction: Manage the onboarding and induction process for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into the company.
Training Needs Analysis: Analyze staff training needs in collaboration with division/line managers to ensure the development of necessary skills.
Exit Management: Oversee the exit management process, ensuring proper protection of the organization and that exiting employees receive their rightful entitlements.
Collaboration with Group HR: Work closely with the Group HR office to implement effective HR systems, processes, and best practices across the organization.
Representation: Represent the HR team at internal and external meetings as required.
Ad-Hoc Projects: Participate in ad-hoc projects and perform other duties as assigned by the leadership team.

Education and Experience:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a reputable organization, with a proven track record in HR leadership.
HR Certification: HR professional certification (CIPM, CIPD, SHRM, HRCI, or other relevant certifications) is a must for this role.
Preferred:
A master’s degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field is an added advantage.
