Department/Division/Unit: Obstetrics & Gynaecology
Job Objective/Purpose:
The Head of Department (HOD) – Obstetrics & Gynaecology will be responsible for coordinating and managing the hospital’s Obstetrics and Gynaecology department while ensuring high standards of care are met.
Reporting Relationships:
Functionally Reports To: Chief Operating Officer
Administratively Reports To: Chief Operating Officer
Supervises: Consultant Obstetricians & Gynaecologists
Working Relationships:
Internal: Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, other consultants, medical officers, directors, and nursing staff
External: Clients, patients, parents, and patient relatives
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and develop the Obstetrics & Gynaecology department.
Supervise and support the team of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, ensuring patient care is optimal and aligned with clinical guidelines.
Manage duty schedules for Obstetricians & Gynaecologists.
Foster collaboration between departments.
Participate in recruitment, orientation, and training of new staff.
Lead department meetings and ensure achievement of departmental targets.
Provide direct care for obstetrics and gynaecology cases and oversee high-risk deliveries.
Conduct ward rounds and specialist outpatient clinics.
Case reporting and documentation.
Education and Qualifications:
Education: MBBS or its equivalent
Professional Training: Residency in Obstetrics & Gynaecology from a recognized institution
Licensing: Valid medical practice license
Professional Qualification: Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College in Obstetrics & Gynaecology or its equivalent
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years post-residency experience is required.

Work Cycle (Hours/Days):
Monday to Friday: 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Saturdays: As per department’s duty schedule
Call duty and weekend coverage as per the department’s rotation.
