Purpose/Job Dimension
The Head of Commercial & Corporate Banking is responsible for developing, executing, and managing the bank’s commercial strategy and tactical business plans. This role focuses on driving business growth, enhancing client relationships, and ensuring the profitability of the Commercial & Corporate Banking unit. The incumbent will oversee strategic management, business development, and the overall performance of the unit, aligning with the bank’s objectives.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement comprehensive commercial strategies and tactical business plans, considering market opportunities, growth potential, competitor activities, existing capabilities, and the bank’s risk appetite.
Identify target markets and customer segments, defining tailored propositions to meet their specific needs.
Devise and agree on product offerings and sales mixes that align with the bank’s strategic goals.
Define and foster a service-based sales culture within the unit to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Serve as the primary point of contact for business customer inquiries, collaborating with internal partners to support various banking functions such as cash management, credit, treasury, and transaction support.
Proactively source opportunities with prospective businesses in the community, building and maintaining strong relationships to drive growth.
Oversee transactional activities, including account monitoring and credit analysis, to ensure compliance with risk and fraud management policies.
Provide sound advice and guidance to businesses on financial strategies, including optimizing cash functions and leveraging opportunities to improve returns on capital.

Experience and Qualifications:
A postgraduate qualification or relevant professional certification is an added advantage.
A minimum of 6-8 years of experience in banking, with a focus on commercial and corporate banking.
Demonstrated experience in strategic management, business development, and profitability management within a banking context.
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline from a recognized university.
Comprehensive knowledge of financial analysis, credit risk assessment, and banking regulations.
Proven track record of building and maintaining strong client relationships.

Achievement of profitability targets and financial performance metrics.
Customer satisfaction and retention rates.
