Head, Maintenance and Engineering

Job Overview:

As the Head Engineering and Maintenance, you will be responsible for overseeing all maintenance and engineering activities within the organization. A strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a focus on operational efficiency and safety are also required.

Additionally, you will collaborate with senior management and other stakeholders to drive operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning:

Develop and implement long-term maintenance and engineering strategies aligned with the organization’s overall goals.
Identify and prioritize capital improvement projects to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
Forecast budget requirements for maintenance, repairs, and capital projects.

Operational Management:

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the maintenance and engineering teams, ensuring efficient and effective execution of tasks.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the performance of the department and identify areas for improvement.
Implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize equipment failures and downtime.
Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergencies in a timely and effective manner.

Team Leadership:

Recruit, hire, and develop a high-performing team of maintenance and engineering professionals.
Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to team members to foster a positive and productive work environment.
Establish clear expectations and performance standards for the team.

Safety and Compliance:

Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and environmental guidelines.
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
Develop and implement emergency response plans.

Vendor Management:

Manage relationships with external contractors and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of services.
Negotiate contracts and monitor vendor performance.
Liaise with external service supports on all issues on the machines and ensure that they carry out their duties as stipulated in the Service Level Agreement (SLA)

Financial Management:

Manage the department’s budget and control costs.
Monitor and analyse maintenance and repair expenses to identify cost-saving opportunities.

Skills and Competencies:

Proven Track record of achieving sales target and driving revenue growth.
Highly energetic with high level of enthusiasm to drive the Maintenance and Engineering team and achieve results.
Strong leadership and management skills, with experience leading and motivating sales teams.
Demonstrate high intelligence, strong analytical and problem-solving skills to overcome challenges and make informed decisions.
Strong negotiation and persuasion skills.
Proficiency in machine management.
Possess high integrity, ethical standards and act with honesty and transparency in all dealings.
Deep understanding of the bank card manufacturing industry.

Requirements:

Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a similar leadership role.
B.SC – Electrical/ Mechanical (in schematic and circuit diagram).
MSC in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering is added advantage.
Membership in Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria and other Nigerian Society of Engineer and any other professional bodies will be an added advantage.
Excellent technical and mechanical knowledge.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with a proactive and results-oriented approach to problem-solving.
