This job role manages legal risk relative to contracts to limit corporate exposure.
Job Requirements
A first degree in Law i.e. (LLB)and Bachelor of Law (BL)
Required: Nig. Bar Association (NBA), and/or Inst. of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) ▪
At least 8 years experience in a legal function with at least 5 years experience in compliance in a top-tier law firm or a company in the utilities sector.
Technical competencies
Deep understanding of the laws and regulations governing the power industry
Deep understanding of corporate laws, securities laws & capital markets
Deep experience in implementing corporate governance frameworks
Strong knowledge of commercial legal issues
Strong sense of ethical business judgment
Excellent organizational and analytical skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong business acumen
Broad experience and demonstration of competence in computer software packages including Microsoft Office (in particular Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Demonstrated success in managing and conducting a variety of litigation matters.

Job Responsibility
Advises the Company on general commercial interests and other legal matters as required.
Represents the Company in negotiations of commercial ventures and other proposed arrangements in conjunction with other experts.
Review of Standard Operating Procedures that guide contract management.
Review, draft, negotiate, and advise on legal documentation.
Monitors time-bound legal documentation and escalates when necessary.
Ensures the setup and maintenance of a database of all legal documentation.
Prepares periodic and ad-hoc reports to management.
Carry out other sundry assignments as directed by the Chief, Legal Officer.
