Reporting to the Sales Director, the position will be working closely with the sales teams as well as regional technical teams in Nigeria. You will be expected to identify and develop business opportunities, coordinate business activities, and drive regional strategies across the region to deliver sustainable growth. As the Business Development Business Head, you will also provide commercial management for customers’ technical enquiries, identification of future needs and new product developments. The role shall provide strategic direction for product/innovation transfer as well as building capabilities and resources within the region to drive growth and efficiencies. You would ideally have a Chemistry educational background however we are more focused on the candidate having 7- 10 years of experience in sales, business development or technical marketing regionally in a lubricants/additives-oriented environment with 3 of those years heading the business unit. You will also have experience of managing within a regional territory, development of sales plans and partnerships to support business growth and the implementation of business strategies, as well as identification of new potential business opportunities. Please not that this role requires extensive travel, up to 75% RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure profitability in Base oil & Lube Additive division by exploring and maximising opportunities
Coordinate sales activities for base oil & lube additive division
Open up new markets, whilst sustaining the existing market base – ensuring continuous market growth
Devise retention strategies of existing customers and acquisition of new ones
Lube and Additive Geographical expansion and Territory management
Identifying and developing new business initiatives.
Obtaining necessary permits for selective additives
Establish excellent business and stakeholder management by ensure regular market visits are being conducted
Ensure timely delivery of all required report(s)
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
BSc/HND degree in any discipline ideally Chemical related but not a necessity
7 – 10 years’ experience overall experience working in Base oil & Lube Additives sector
Minimum of 3years as Business Head/ Business Development Manager managing a sales team
Must have exceptional sales skills and a consistent track record in sales conversion success and performance
Proven experience attracting large sales opportunities.
Must have established contacts and relationships within the business’s industry
Be an outstanding communicator, with strong negotiating and persuasion skills
An excellent appreciation of the Nigerian skill development and education landscape, industry and political nuances will be preferable.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and time management skills – this position requires a positive attitude and an exceptionally friendly disposition, able to relate well to all stakeholders.
Excellent presentation creation skills (consulting level standard and good attention to detail)
Ability to make highly effective, high-level presentations to all clients (internal & external)
Strong market research and sales skills
Ability to develop and implement business growth strategies
Demonstrated ability to solve problems and a commitment to exceptional client service
Creative problem-solving ability and a consultancy mind-set
Creative team lead and team player and with a willingness to pitch in with ideas on areas that may not be directly one’s own area
Dedication to accomplishing goals and overcoming challenges presented by clients and management
Microsoft Office skill essential, especially Microsoft PowerPoint.
