Plan began life as a child sponsorship organisation with procedures and structures to match. From 2008 its income stream began to diversify with institutional income becoming increasingly important.
Plan therefore undertook to review policy, procedure and standards around the acquisition and management of funds and is now at an exciting and challenging point when the changes inherent in these new policies and procedures are to be implemented.
This post will play an important leadership role in the implementation of new procedures and the capacity development of Plan International’s Country Offices to manage institutional funding and comply with donor regulations.
You will be responsible for developing policy, procedure, guidance and tools to support our Country Offices to successfully acquire and manage institutional funding.
Key Deliverables
Contributing to global leadership and global decision making on institutional funding related issues.
Leading on the development of policy, procedure, guidance and tools around grants management and compliance and monitoring their effectiveness.
Developing strong working relationships with Regional and Country Offices, Programme Quality, Finance and Learning and Development colleagues in order to integrate and align Plan’s grants management procedures into the mainstream of Plan International’s activities, ensuring that policy goals are met and financial procedures support effective grants management.
Participating in and engaging with networks around grants and institutional funding and those related to specific donors.
Providing direct support and technical expertise to Country Offices around large grant start up, problem resolution and grants in emergency situations.
The Individual
You will be experienced in working with large donors with a detailed understanding of how institutional donors interact with INGO’s and how we manage grants from end to end.
You will have proven experience of developing, articulating and implementing policies, procedures and supporting tools to a wide range of audiences from formal governance structures to field offices.
A good understanding of financial management and some understanding of accounting procedures is essential as is experience developing and delivering learning material.
A credible influencer and communicator, you will have an inclusive, consultative and adaptive approach to decision making, experienced in navigating complex organisational structures.
Salary £50-60000 per annum or competitive salary depending on local salary scales in location
