General Manager (Transport and Logistics)

Job Purpose: 

The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the transport logistics company, ensuring efficiency, profitability, and compliance with industry regulations. This includes managing fleet operations, customer service, staff performance, and strategic business development. The role also involves supervising the hire-out services for vans and trucks, ensuring optimal utilization and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities: 

Operational Management 

Oversee daily logistics and transport operations to ensure timely and efficient service delivery, working in conjunction with fleet driver manager. 
Monitor the hiring operations of vans and trucks, ensuring assets are well-maintained and utilized efficiently. 
Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance productivity and maintain service quality.
Coordinate vehicle procurement, servicing, and decommissioning processes to maintain a reliable fleet. 
Manage supply chain activities, including route planning, dispatch, and tracking of vehicles. 
Analyse and audit reporting data and monitor drivers compliance, as well as active engagement with ways to eliminate fraud and sharp practices amongst driving staff.

Financial Management 

Develop, monitor, and manage budgets, ensuring profitability and cost-effectiveness across all operations 
Monitor and Analyze financial reports to track revenue, expenses, and operational costs. 
Identify opportunities for cost reduction and revenue enhancement. 
Manage pricing strategies for transport services and vehicle hire, using external sources, internal calculations and field reports from drivers. 

Strategic Planning 

Develop and execute business strategies to meet company goals and objectives. 
Develop and implement the company’s strategic plan, aligning with long-term business objectives. 
Identify opportunities to maximize revenue from vehicle hire and logistics services 
Identify and pursue growth opportunities, including partnerships, new markets, and service expansions. 
Stay abreast of industry trends and incorporate innovative practices to remain competitive. 
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Client/Customer Relationship Management 
Maintain high standards of customer service and resolve escalated customer complaints effectively. 
Foster strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders. 
Monitor customer feedback and implement improvements to enhance satisfaction and loyalty

Staff Management

 Recruit, train, and mentor staff, ensuring they are equipped to meet business needs. 
Set performance targets and conduct regular performance reviews. 
Foster a positive workplace culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management 
Ensure compliance with transport, health and safety, and environmental regulations. 
Manage risks associated with fleet operations, including vehicle safety, liability, and insurance. 
Conduct regular audits to ensure operational and regulatory adherence. 
Conduct Driver audits around behaviours, drug use and alcohol use.

Salary: N400k Net Monthly. Must have at least 5years experience in the Transport/Logistics/Supply Chain industry, verifiable proof and references.

Monthly bonus of up to N100k, based on meeting KPIs
