Job Summary
The Gender Officer will play a crucial role in promoting gender equality, diversity, and inclusion within the organisation or project they are working for. This position is responsible for implementing and overseeing gender mainstreaming activities, ensuring that gender-related issues are addressed effectively, and contributing to the creation of an inclusive and equitable work environment.
Role/Mission
Gender Mainstreaming:
Develop and implement strategies to integrate gender perspectives and considerations into all aspects of the organization’s operations or project activities.
Conduct gender assessments and analyze data to identify gender-specific challenges and opportunities.
Capacity Building:
Provide training and awareness programs to staff and stakeholders on gender equality and related issues.
Support the development of gender-sensitive policies and procedures.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
Develop and implement gender-sensitive monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
Regularly collect and analyze gender-disaggregated data to track progress and inform decision-making.
Advocacy and Collaboration:
Advocate for gender equality and inclusion both within the organization and in external partnerships.
Collaborate with relevant organizations and agencies to promote gender-related initiatives.
Support for Vulnerable Groups:
Develop and implement programs to address the specific needs of vulnerable and marginalized groups, such as women and children
Ensure that gender-based violence prevention and response mechanisms are in place.
Reporting:
Prepare regular reports on gender-related activities, progress, and outcomes.
Provide input into funding proposals and grant applications related to gender initiatives.
Research and Analysis:
Stay informed about current gender-related trends, policies, and best practices.
Conduct research and analysis on gender issues as needed.
Experience/Skills
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Gender or Gender-related projects.

Exceptional reporting skills.
Ability to work in stressful locations
Knowledge of humanitarian actors.
Good pedagogical skills.
Excellent communication skills to manage relationships in tense situations.
Good presentation skills.
