Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and proactive fleet supervisor to manage and oversee our fleet operations within the fast-paced FMCG sector.
The Fleet Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost-effective utilization of vehicles to support logistics and distribution activities.
This role demands strong organizational skills, technical knowledge of fleet management, and the ability to lead and motivate a team.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet Operations Management:
Oversee the daily operations of the fleet to ensure timely delivery of goods to customers and retail outlets.
Coordinate and monitor vehicle schedules to maximize utilization and minimize downtime.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures for fleet activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Maintenance and Repairs:
Schedule regular maintenance, inspections, and repairs to maintain optimal vehicle performance and safety.
Collaborate with service providers and mechanics to resolve technical issues promptly.
Track and analyze vehicle performance metrics to identify recurring issues and implement preventative measures.
Team Leadership:
Supervise and manage a team of drivers, providing clear communication, training, and performance evaluations.
Ensure drivers adhere to company policies, road safety regulations, and FMCG delivery standards.
Promote a culture of safety and operational excellence among fleet team members.
Cost Control and Budgeting:
Monitor fleet expenses, including fuel, maintenance, and repairs, and implement strategies to reduce costs.
Maintain accurate records of expenditures and prepare regular reports for management.
Identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining service quality.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all fleet activities comply with local traffic laws and FMCG industry-specific regulations.
Maintain accurate documentation, including licenses, permits, insurance, and vehicle logs.
Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions for drivers.
Technology and Data Management:
Utilize fleet management software to track vehicle usage, optimize routes, and monitor driver performance.
Analyze data to generate insights for operational improvements.
Stay updated on emerging fleet management technologies and recommend upgrades where applicable.
Qualifications and Skills
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fleet management, preferably in the FMCG sector.
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with vehicle maintenance, GPS systems, and fleet management software.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team in a dynamic environment.
Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on operational efficiency and cost control.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous in record-keeping and compliance monitoring.
Flexibility: Willingness to work irregular hours and travel as needed.
