Job Summary:
The Account Officer is responsible for managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The role supports financial operations by handling accounts payable/receivable, reconciling statements, and assisting with financial reporting to support renewable energy projects and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Transactions & Record Keeping:
Process invoices, payments, and receipts accurately and in a timely manner.
Maintain proper documentation of financial transactions.
Ensure compliance with company policies and financial regulations.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
Monitor customer payments and follow up on outstanding balances.
Process supplier invoices and ensure timely payments.
Reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable records.
Bank Reconciliation & Cash Management:
Perform periodic bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
Assist in managing cash flow and ensuring sufficient funds for operations.
Handle petty cash transactions and maintain accurate records.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Support budget preparation and financial forecasting activities.
Generate financial reports and provide insights to support decision-making.
Regulatory Compliance & Audit Support:
Ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements.
Prepare supporting documents for audits and liaise with auditors.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial laws and accounting best practices.
Other Responsibilities:
Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations.
Assist in financial process improvement initiatives.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Finance & Accounts.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the renewable energy or related industry.
Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is an advantage.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or SAP).
Strong knowledge of financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting standards.
