Fiber Implementation Project Manager

We are an indigenous digital infrastructure company based in Lagos but with Projects across the six(6) Geopolitical Zones of Nigeria. We are looking to fill a position for a Fiber Implementation Project Manager, who is expected to have expertise in planning, designing and execution of fiber optic network projects. The successful candidate will be required to work outside Lagos, collaboratively and in a very conducive team environment, combining technical competencies with project management. 

Responsibilities

Oversee all aspects of fiber optic installation projects, from overall strategic planning to designing the footprint, implementation and project closeout
Develop project plans, timelines, project schedules, budgets and ensure timely completion of same
Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences all project activities needed for successful project completion
Determine objectives and measure same upon which the project will be evaluated at completion, including hours, costs, revenues, time to invoice, time to close 
Manage project teams, including subcontractors and vendors
Monitor project progress, identifying and mitigating risks and issues that may arise during the project lifecycle 
Ensure that all project documentations (including plans, specifications, change orders) are properly maintained and communicated to all stakeholders
Work closely with clients to understand their needs and expectations, to ensure that the project is aligned with their goals
Responsible for ensuring work completion and implementation in compliance with industry standards, regulatory and safety requirements
Maintain integrity of design, alongside cost feasibility 
Manage individual and team performance by providing timely performance evaluations, constructive feedback, coaching and growth opportunities 
Check the occupational safety aspects of projects in order to ensure work safety. Understand and follow the safety, health rules, as well as safe working practices applicable to the job 
Maintain records of ongoing work with contractors as well as detailed documentation of all site engineering activities
Manage all project activities through manpower resource scheduling, proper documentation, budgeting and other project factors 
Conduct cost-benefit analysis and risk analyses to determine project feasibility
Project evaluation – lead the debrief on completed projects to track factors affecting successful project implementation and profitability 
Other appropriate responsibilities relevant to the role as they evolve

Required Skills and Core Competencies

Strong understanding of network topology/architecture and fiber optic networks
Good knowledge and experience of Passive Optical Network (PON) and Optic Fiber project implementation 
Ability to design and, read and interpret KMZ files, technical drawings, schematics and OSP records and network designs
Proficiency with MS Project 
Strong leadership and project management skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Good judgment and sound decision making 
Good community relations and human management skills 
Critical thinking, analytical and complex problem-solving skills
Sound knowledge of industry standards and regulations
Demonstrable leadership experience with the ability to develop, mentor and guide teams under contractual terms (vendors and subcontractors included)
Demonstrable success in project delivery and execution of project management methods
Ability to manage large projects and multiple sub-contractors 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree/HND in Electrical /Electronics or any related Engineering discipline. 
PMP Certification or evidence of PM Training 
At least 8 years of experience in fiber optics project management
Optic Fiber Trainings and certifications as applicable
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs & Microsoft Project
