The Evaluation Specialist will play a pivotal role in ensuring high-quality evaluations and delivering actionable insights. The ideal candidate must demonstrate expertise in evaluation methodologies, development programming, humanitarian activities across sectors, and service planning and programming. Specific responsibilities include:
Evaluation Planning and Coordination:
Support the drafting of evaluation proposals and budgets.
Contribute to the design and development of new evaluation initiatives.
Engage actively in evaluation kick-off sessions with clients.
Conduct desk reviews to support contextual understanding of development and humanitarian service delivery per client.
Collaborate with the evaluation team to design data collection instruments that address all evaluation objectives.
Research Administration:
Support the development of inception reports.
Plan, develop, coordinate, and administer research tools with team members.
Manage the data collection process and supervise data collectors to ensure compliance with protocols.
Coordinate and conduct interviews alongside team members to gather qualitative and quantitative data.
Data Management and Analysis:
Interpret and analyze qualitative and quantitative data, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
Perform quality assurance reviews of both quantitative and qualitative datasets.
Conduct quantitative data analysis and develop preliminary analyses.
Create infographics and visual representations of data.
Reporting and Communication:
Support the preparation of inception reports, draft evaluation reports, and summaries of findings.
Assist in the preparation and presentation of the in-brief and out-brief sessions for clients and other stakeholders.
Incorporate stakeholder feedback and client comments into final evaluation reports.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Essential Qualifications:
Educational Background: At least a master’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Research, Economics, Demography/Population Studies, Sociology, or a relevant social science field.
At least 5 years of experience in development/humanitarian programming and evaluation/research, with a minimum of 2 years at a senior level.
Strong expertise in monitoring and evaluation and service delivery research.
Thorough grounding in qualitative survey methods, including focus group discussions (FGDs), key informant interviews (KIIs), in-depth interviews (IDIs), and data transcription.
Strong understanding of the contextual and operational challenges of development and humanitarian activities, particularly at the community level.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a high command of the English language.
Proven ability to interpret and present data visually through infographics and other data visualization tools.
Exceptional interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders and working collaboratively with team members.
Desirable Qualifications:
Familiarity with advanced evaluation tools.
Proficiency in multiple languages.
Experience in developing innovative methodologies for evaluations.
