Educational Experience

Applicants should have completed a degree or qualification in a relevant field (e.g., literature, communications, marketing, design, etc.), or demonstrate equivalent interest or experience in publishing.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Demographics: Open to applicants from African and Afro-diasporic backgrounds.
Experience: No prior experience required. However, a strong interest in publishing or any relevant industry (literary, design, marketing, etc.) is preferred.
Location: The programme is open to candidates based in the aforementioned cities.

Interns are expected to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:

Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a particular emphasis on clarity and professionalism.
Attention to Detail: Ability to work with accuracy and precision, particularly when reviewing texts, marketing materials, or visual content.
Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a remote team setting, showing initiative and contributing to collective goals.
Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to handle shifting priorities.
Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines consistently, particularly when working independently.
Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar tools. Familiarity with design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite), content management systems, or social media platforms is a plus, depending on the internship focus.

Core Responsibilities (depending On Role)

Interns will be assigned a range of tasks based on their area of interest and expertise. Responsibilities may include:
Assist with slush pile reading and manuscript reviews.
Support the editorial team in drafting and revising content.
Conduct research on authors, literary trends, or historical contexts relevant to publishing.
