Director of Works and Physical Planning

Location: Karu, Nasarawa

The Job

The Director of Works and Physical Planning is the University’s Head of Works and Physical Planning unit.
The Director shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor.
He/She is responsible for the overall physical development, Project coordination, construction and all physical infrastructure and utilities of the University.
He/she is required to provide quarterly reports of all the physical development activities in the University for council briefing to the office of the Vice-Chancellor.

Qualifications

The candidates shall possess a good Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in a professionally recognised field of study in the built environment i.e. Architecture, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or Building.
Possession of another relevant postgraduate degree would be an added advantage.
The candidate MUST be registered with the Relevant Professional bodies (such as ARCON, COREN, QSRBN or CORBON).
Candidates must have at least 10 years of working experience and must have attained the rank of Deputy Director in a University system.
Suitable candidates are expected to be knowledgeable about the operations of the University system and competent to advise on matters of physical planning, design, Infrastructure and works and maintenance services in the realization of the objectives of creating a conducive working, learning, teaching and research environment.
Proficient knowledge of ICT is required.

The Candidate:

The candidate must be a person of integrity, honesty and fear of God.
 He/She must have a track record of high moral probity, accountability and accomplishment.
The candidate must demonstrate an understanding of the university system’s complexity, such as infrastructural development and quality issues, and also be proficient in relevant ICT packages.
He/She must be of sound mental and physical health.
The candidate must not be more than 60 years as at the time of assumption of office.

Conditions of Service

The appointment for the post of Director of Works and Physical Planning will be for a single term of five years .
The conditions of service would be as applicable in the Nigerian University system and as determined by Council from time to time.
