COOPI in NigeriaCOOPI started its operations in North-East Nigeria in July 2014 to carry out a rapid evaluation of the most relevant constraints suffered by the Internally Displaced People (IDPs) displaced by the food crisis and the Boko Haram insurgency in the Lake Chad Basin.The COOPI Nigeria Field Office is located in Potiskum, Yobe State, in order to cover five LGAs in Yobe State and to provide direct assistance to the IDPs and their hosting communities, through a multi-sectorial programme covering Food Security, Nutrition and Child Protection interventions. COOPI’s capacity to respond to the humanitarian situation in the country is confirmed by its experience in providing humanitarian aid in more than 24 other Countries around the World, in over 50 years of operations.Scope of the VacancyWithin the scope of COOPI’s Child Protection project, funded by UNICEF, the Data Clerk will be responsible for the data-entry activities: formatting, creating and properly filling the soft-copies of the reports and for filling properly the UNICEF reporting monitoring.Main Duties / Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of theAssistant Nutrition Project Manager, the Data Entry Clerk:
Supports the project to manage information;
Creates a database of the beneficiaries and systematically feed into the system the registered information for each beneficiary, both on Excel and on the donor’s standard tools (5Ws)
Backs up all electronic files and data base;
Generates periodic reports;
Exercises extreme precaution and confidentiality when handling the personal data of the beneficiaries;
Advises on best practices for managing data and system maintenance as per required standard;
Collaborates with the rest of the team to ensure the data-entry on-time on-quality taking into consideration that the registrations should be always up to date in soft-copy;
Trains colleagues and stakeholders about generic IT skills and data-entry activities;
Performs any other duties as assigned by his/her supervisors in connection to the project.
Profile of the Candidate (Education, Training, Competences, Skills)
Minimum Requirements:
Previous experience in similar activities;
Demonstrated ability to deal with Windows SO and with Microsoft Office packages, in particular Word and Excel;
Capacity to establish and maintain productive relations with a range of actors from different national and cultural backgrounds;
Ability to plan and organize work and write clear and concise reports and communicate effectively orally;
Availability to organize his/her stay inPotiskum and Jakusko especially during the main activities (identification/registration, distribution, reconciliation);
Fluency in oral and written English and knowledge of Hausa;
Desired Competencies / Skills
Knowledge of the geography and culture of Jakukso LGA
Previous experience with NGOs.
