Position Summary
The Data Analyst will be crucial in supporting the NTPMP by ensuring the quality, accuracy, and relevance of data collected through third-party monitoring activities. The Data Analyst will collaborate with field monitors, implementing partners, and team members to develop data collection tools, conduct quality assurance, and perform data analysis to generate actionable insights. They will utilize advanced data analysis and visualization techniques to interpret trends and inform USAID/BHA programming decisions. The analyst will also contribute to the preparation of reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders. This full-time position will report to the Senior Monitoring Advisor. The full-time position is anticipated to last five years and is based in Maiduguri, Nigeria.
Responsibilities
Contribute to the development of quantitative and qualitative data collection instruments in consultation with other partners and stakeholders involved in development and humanitarian programming, including the research company responsible for data collection.
Collaborate with field monitors, implementing partners, and team members to ensure alignment of data collection tools and methods.
Support the training of enumerators before third-party monitoring site visits and support the data quality checking process.
Provide quality oversight and assurance of data collected by third parties to ensure the completeness, accuracy, robustness, and timely production of all data reports.
Conduct regular data quality assessments to ensure accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data collected from the field.
Develop and execute data analysis plans for discrete tasks based on the NTPMP analytical framework for effective humanitarian assistance.
Use quantitative software such as Excel, SPSS, STATA, or R to process raw data and organize the preparation of data set codebooks.
Develop coding frameworks for qualitative data and use these frameworks to examine the qualitative data collected by the project.
Recognize, extract, and interpret data trends from large and complex data sets and express those trends in visual graphics and clear, concise prose.
Draft Monitoring Summary Reports and site visit reports in English expressing trends in visual graphics and clear, concise narrative.
Identify trends, patterns, and insights to inform USAID/BHA program adjustments and recommendations.
Develop dashboards, reports, and presentations to visualize data findings for decision-making.
Document and share lessons learned, best practices, and innovative approaches in data management.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related field is required. A Master’s Degree is preferred but not required.
At least 3 minimum required with 5 preferred of experience working as a Data Analyst, preferably in humanitarian assistance, monitoring and evaluation, or a similar sector is required.
Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SPSS, R, Python, or Power BI.
Strong experience in data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
Knowledge of USAID/BHA monitoring frameworks and methodologies is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving, critical-thinking, and communication skills.
Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and in an environment in which there may be team members with varying backgrounds and skill levels.
Proficiency and experience with one or more mobile data collection platforms is required
Experience working in Nigeria in the northeastern states of Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe is an advantage
Fluency in English, written and spoken.
