Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon

Department/Division/Unit: Surgery

Job Objective/Purpose:

The Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon will provide expert care for all orthopaedic cases, ensuring the standardization and streamlining of orthopaedic care practices across the department.

Reporting Relationships:

Functionally Reports To: Chief of Surgery
Administratively Reports To: Chief of Surgery
Supervises: Medical officers and nurses

Working Relationships:

Internal: Other consultants, medical officers, directors, and nursing staff
External: Clients, patients, and their relatives

Key Responsibilities:

Provide care and management for orthopaedic patients, both in outpatient and inpatient settings.
Develop and adhere to clinical practice guidelines.
Conduct ward rounds and specialist outpatient clinics.
Provide case reporting and documentation.
Perform other duties as required by the department.

Education and Qualifications:

Education: MBBS or its equivalent
Professional Training: Residency in Surgery from a recognized institution
Licensing: Valid medical practice license
Professional Qualification: Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College in Surgery or equivalent

Experience:

A minimum of 1 year post-residency experience is desirable.

Strong orthopaedic surgical skills

Teaching and supervisory skills (for medical officers and nurses)

Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently
Ability to work under pressure, demonstrate leadership, and solve problems effectively
Computer literacy

Behavioral:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Work Cycle (Hours/Days):

Monday to Friday: 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Saturdays: As per department’s duty schedule
Call duty and weekend coverage as per the department’s rotation.
