About the Role
We are seeking a Gender and Climate Justice Consultant to develop a comprehensive report on gender-inclusive disaster preparedness and response in Niger, Benue, and Nasarawa States.
The consultant will analyze existing disaster response frameworks, identify gender disparities, and provide actionable recommendations to strengthen resilience and equity in disaster management strategies.
Key Responsibilities/ Expected Deliverables
Conduct a desk review of existing disaster preparedness and response policies in the target states.
Organize Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) with government officials, NGOs, and community leaders.
Facilitate Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with affected communities, particularly women and other vulnerable groups.
Assess gender disparities in current disaster response mechanisms.
Develop a comprehensive report outlining key findings, gender gaps, and policy recommendations.
Incorporate feedback and submit a final version of the report.
Requirements
Advanced degree in Gender Studies, Climate Justice, Disaster Management, Public Policy, or related fields.
Proven experience in gender analysis, climate resilience, and disaster preparedness in Nigeria or similar contexts.
Strong research and report-writing skills with the ability to translate complex data into practical recommendations.
Experience conducting stakeholder engagements, qualitative research, and policy analysis.
Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality outputs within tight timelines.
