Job Description

Grassroots Life Savings Outreach (LESGO) We are dedicated to promoting health and paving the way for a better future for everyone. Through our initiatives, we focus on improving access to essential healthcare services, clean water, sanitation, and protection against gender-based violence. We work tirelessly to support vulnerable communities, ensuring they have the resources and education necessary to thrive. LESGO implemented its Lean Season Essential Community Health Services project from July to December 2024 in Yola South and Madagali LGAs. The project aimed to improve health outcomes in underserved communities by providing services for the prevention and management of disease outbreaks, Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH).
This assessment will identify, analyze, and evaluate operational, financial, and other risks (both internal and external) that may impact current and future projects. The findings will inform evidence-based mitigation strategies to strengthen organizational resilience and project success.

Objectives of the Consultancy
The primary objective of this consultancy is to conduct a comprehensive Risk Evidence Base Assessment to:

Identify potential operational, financial, and external risks affecting the organization and its projects.
Evaluate the likelihood and impact of these risks.
Develop evidence-based mitigation strategies to address identified risks.
Provide actionable recommendations to enhance risk management frameworks for ongoing and future project implementations.
Scope of Work: The consultancy will cover the following areas:

Operational Risks:

Risks related to project planning, execution, and monitoring.
Internal process inefficiencies, staff capacity, and human resource management.

Financial Risks:

Risks related to funding, budgeting, financial reporting, and fraud.
External factors affecting financial sustainability, such as donor policies and market fluctuations.

External Risks:

Risks arising from political, environmental, legal, and social contexts.
Risks related to partnerships, community engagement, and stakeholder dynamics.

Other Identifiable Risks:

Any additional risks identified during the assessment process that may impact the organization or its projects.

Key Deliverables

The consultant is expected to deliver the following:

Inception Report:

Detailed methodology, work plan, and timeline for the assessment.

Risk Assessment Report:

Comprehensive identification and analysis of risks.
Categorization of risks by type, likelihood, and impact.
Evidence-based findings supported by data and stakeholder inputs.

Risk Mitigation Framework:

Practical and evidence-based strategies for mitigating identified risks.
Recommendations for integrating risk management into organizational processes.

Presentation of Findings:

A summary presentation to LESGO management and stakeholders, including key findings and recommendations.

Methodology

The consultant will employ a combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches, including:
Desk review of relevant organizational documents, policies, and reports.
Stakeholder consultations and interviews with staff, partners, and beneficiaries.
Risk assessment tools and frameworks tailored to the organization’s context.
Data analysis to support evidence-based conclusions and recommendations.

Duration and Timeline

The consultancy is expected to take place over a period of 2-4 weeks, starting from 13/01/2025 to 7/02/2025. A detailed work plan will be needed during the inception phase.

 Qualifications

The ideal consultant or consultancy firm should have:
Proven experience in risk assessment and management, particularly in the non-profit or development sector.
Expertise in operational, financial, and external risk analysis.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in evidence-based reporting.
Familiarity with risk management frameworks and tools.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Reporting and Supervision:

The consultant will report to Project Manager and will work closely with relevant team and department. Regular progress updates will be required as per the agreed timeline.

Evaluation Criteria:

Proposals will be evaluated based on:
Understanding of the assignment and proposed methodology (30%).
Relevant experience and qualifications (30%).
Cost-effectiveness of the financial proposal (20%).
Timeline and work plan feasibility (20%).
