Compliance Officer

Job Summary:

The Compliance Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a robust compliance program tailored to the specific risks and regulatory requirements associated with KiaKia Finance’s business model. This role requires a deep understanding of the Nigerian and global regulatory landscape, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures in line with relevant Nigerian regulations (e.g., AML/CFT, KYC, CBN regulations, Data Privacy regulations, etc.).
Monitor and assess the effectiveness of the compliance program, identifying areas for enhancement and implementing necessary changes.
Conduct regular risk assessments, including AML/CFT risk assessments, considering the specific services offered by KiaKia Finance.
Stay abreast of evolving Nigerian regulations and industry best practices, ensuring the company’s compliance program remains current and effective.
Deliver training programs to employees on compliance-related topics, emphasizing practical application within KiaKia Finance’s operations.
Conduct internal audits and reviews to verify adherence to policies and procedures.
Investigate and resolve compliance-related issues and incidents promptly and effectively.
Prepare and submit regulatory reports accurately and timely, as required by Nigerian regulatory bodies (e.g., CBN, NFIU, NDPC).
Liaise with Nigerian regulatory authorities and external auditors, representing KiaKia Finance professionally.
Collaborate with other departments (e.g., product, technology, operations) to embed compliance into all aspects of the business.
Maintain meticulous records of compliance activities, demonstrating a strong audit trail.
Monitor transactions for suspicious activity, escalating alerts according to Nigerian AML/CFT regulations.
Conduct customer due diligence (CDD) and enhanced due diligence (EDD) adhering to Nigerian KYC/AML requirements.
Implement and maintain robust anti-money laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) programs aligned with Nigerian regulatory expectations.
Contribute to the development and implementation of compliance technology solutions, if applicable.
Develop and implement a data privacy compliance framework, ensuring adherence to the Nigerian Data Protection Regulation (NDPR).

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Law, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a legal or compliance role, preferably within the Nigerian financial services or fintech industry.
Demonstrable understanding of relevant Nigerian regulations, including AML/CFT, KYC, CBN regulations, NFIU guidelines, NDPR, and other applicable laws.
Experience in developing, implementing, and managing compliance programs tailored to specific business models.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (written and verbal).
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to accuracy.
Professional compliance certifications (e.g., CAMS, ACAMS) are highly advantageous.
Experience with relevant compliance software and technology solutions is a plus
