Unity Hill Chapel seeks to hire a Communications and Events Manager. This position is responsible for developing and implementing the Church’s communications strategy and plans to enhance the Church’s brand and promote her message. This person will also be responsible for effective planning and executing of all the Church events.
Job Responsibilities:
Communications Strategy & Plans
Support the development of the Communication’s strategy in line with the Church’ vision, mission and objectives.
Develop the annual communications plan with a budget.
Day to day management of the Communications team to effectively translate the approved Communications Strategy to required periodic implementation plans and the successful execution of said plans on time and within budget.
Monitor all internal and external Communications initiatives against approved plan and budget to ensure alignment whilst delivering high impact solutions and optimizing costs.
Content Creation and Management
Accountable for the development and distribution of all content and promotional materials in support of the communication objectives – captions, newsletters, event fliers, social media posts and blogs; press release etc.
Direct and oversee the management of the Church website
Brand & Event Management:
Articulate and disseminate the Church’ brand and desired position and assure consistency in all internal and external communications.
Develop and manage process for ensuring brand and visual identity are always correctly used internally and externally.
Organize, manage and monitor all Church internal and external events, webinars, training sessions and conferences, press conferences to ensure the achievement of desired objectives.
Manage working relationships with internal teams, external clients and vendors, to ensure smooth communication and successful event execution.
Internal & External Communications.
Ensure consistent internal messaging, manage internal communications platforms, and align employees with company goals.
Drive Church members’ and employee engagement by creating and sharing communication that is capable of connecting, informing and inspiring internal stakeholders.
Provide advisory services to all departments on communications, public relations and management of events.
Media/Public Relations: Maintain relationships with journalists and media outlets, handle press inquiries and manage crisis communication.
Media Relations: Maintain relationships with journalists and media outlets, manage press enquiries and press releases and crisis communication in conjunction with the Board of Trustees.
Analytics and Reporting
Monitor and measure the performance metrics for the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns, providing regular reports to the Operational Committee and Board of Trustees.
Key Performance Indicators.
Extent to which brand values, brand story and message are positively reinforced using internal communications, PR, digital media and events.
Quality and effectiveness of implemented internal and external communications efforts / activities.
Quantity and quality of mileage received on print, broadcast and digital platforms.
Increase in positive perception and dialogue on internal and external platforms.
Brand recall and memorability.
Improvement in the Church members and employees affinity to brand.
Quality of reports/policies/process developed and presented.
Cost effectiveness of solutions deployed.
Growth in followership across all Company social media platforms.
Growth in user engagement on all Company social media platforms.
Requirements:
A heart for the local church, a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a passion to use communications to reach others.
Proven ability to take projects from beginning to the end; organized and able to manage multiple projects.
Action-oriented and displays focus, passion and initiative. Takes appropriate action when something needs to be done.
Great interpersonal skills, able to build effective relationships, and communicate effectively both interpersonally and corporately.
Organized creative thinker and highly productive, working in a fast-paced environment.
Committed to improvement, seeks constructive criticism, and understands strengths and weaknesses.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, PR, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in communications and event management with proven track record of success.
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, strong understanding of multi-channel communication systems, and proficiency in event planning tools (e.g., Eventbrite, GoToWebinar etc.).
Familiarity with CMS software like WordPress and event marketing software, MS Office Suite, Google docs.
