Communication Manager

Job Overview

The Communications Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all communication strategies to support the NGO’s mission, increase visibility, and engage target audiences. This role involves managing both internal and external communications, leading media outreach, creating compelling content, and supporting fundraising and advocacy efforts.

Key Responsibilities
Communication Strategy Development

Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy to align with organizational goals and program objectives.
Collaborate with the program and leadership teams to plan and execute strategic communications campaigns.
Regularly evaluate and adjust strategies to improve outreach and effectiveness.

Content Creation and Management

Create and oversee engaging content for various platforms, including websites, newsletters, social media, press releases, and donor reports.
Ensure consistency in brand messaging, tone, and style across all communication materials
Develop stories, case studies, and testimonials that effectively convey the impact of the organization’s programs and initiatives.

Media Relations

Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers.
Write and distribute press releases, pitch stories, and respond to media inquiries to enhance positive media coverage.
Organize press events, interviews, and press briefings as needed.

Social Media and Digital Engagement

Manage social media channels, develop a content calendar, and create engaging multimedia content to grow the online community.
Monitor digital analytics to measure the impact of campaigns and adjust strategies accordingly.
Explore new digital tools and trends to increase reach and engagement.

Fundraising and Donor Communications

Support the fundraising team with donor-specific communication materials, such as impact reports, proposals, and thank-you messages.
Develop targeted communication strategies for donor engagement and retention.
Collaborate on the creation of visually appealing annual reports and donor collateral.

Brand Management

Maintain and promote brand identity and messaging consistency across all materials and platforms.
Train staff and partners on brand guidelines and ensure compliance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Communications Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field or any social science field
At least 5 years plus of experience in a communications role, preferably within the non-profit or social impact sector.
Strong understanding of NGO dynamics, donor relations, and advocacy communications.
Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage successful communication strategies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to simplify complex issues for various audiences.
Proficiency with digital marketing, social media management, and analytics tools.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills

Experience with media relations and PR.
Knowledge of graphic design, photography, and video production.
Familiarity with CMS platforms, email marketing tools, and social media scheduling platforms.
