Project Description:My Question and Answer service (MyQ) was developed to challenge the socio-cultural context, which limits young people’s ability to ask questions and discuss sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS issues.  MyQ provides a mechanism for young people to ask questions on SRHR issues through voice calls, text messages, email and a website interface. The platform has answered over 1 million questions since it was created in 2007.
The communication (MyQ or Program) intern will be responsible for answering questions and provide counselling on sexual and reproductive health concerns of our target audience. You will need to possess a creative flair to work with adolescents and young people.
Key Task and Responsibilities:
Respond to Questions

Respond by providing answers to at least 100 SMS questions sent in by adolescents and young people every day
Attend to the hotline and provide counselling to adolescents and young people, who call the phone for a minimum of at least 3 hours per day.
Improve knowledge and counselling capacity by completing at least one e-learning course monthly on the Global E-Learning Platform.
Seek for clarification or pose questions to senior counsellors through trainings and Skype/WhatsApp group.

Social media EngagementThe intern will work with the MyQ team to grow our social media presence which includes audience engagement, and ensure that our social presence contributes to the improvement of young peoples’ knowledge on sexual and reproductive health. This includes:

Providing innovative ideas to reach adolescents and young people
Support the use of social media for reporting on the activities and special events

Demand Creation and Strategy

Support the implementation of the demand creation and strategy within the locality and other sites as designated by the project coordinator
Seek out unique opportunities to promote the MyQ service to young people between the ages of 10-24 years.
Represent MyQ service at external meetings and programs as designated by the project coordinator
Support tracking of the implementation of the marketing strategy in states by collating reports from the focal persons

Program Management

Support the generation of program monthly reports for the hotline and/or SMS components
Support the program coordinator in the development of project budgets
Track and report on project progress and outcome using the organization’s monitoring and evaluation tools
Source for new funding opportunities and contribute to the development of proposals and concept papers for the project.
Handle any other task or responsibility assigned by the Program Coordinator, Program manager or ED.

Requirements

Minimum of B.Sc or HND in Medical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Public Health, or any other related course with at least one 1 year working experience.
Understanding of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) is key.
Tech Savvy
Ability to be organized and detail orientated.
Ability to work under intense pressure without losing focus.
Strong skills in time management and ability to meet tight deadlines
Ability to work with minimum supervision
Excellent oral and writing skills
Ability to work with a team to deliver positive results
Willing to uphold human rights values and positive youth development
Ability to read, write and speak Hausa Language is a major advantage.
