Commodity Trader

Our client is a multinational oil and gas trading group with offices in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Their experience spans over a decade focusing petroleum products trading and marine logistics. We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Commodity Trader to buy and sell oil and gas commodities within the West African Region. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing market trends, negotiating deals, and managing trading risks

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Key Responsibilities:

Analyze market trends and forecasts to identify trading opportunities.
Traveling to supplier locations to source and aggregate commodities
Analyzing market trends, pricing dynamics, and supply-demand shift
Negotiate and execute trades with suppliers, buyers, and other stakeholders.
Manage trading risks and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, buyers, and industry experts.
Stay up-to-date with industry developments, market news, and regulatory changes.
Collaborate with other teams, including logistics, finance, and operations.

Requirements:

Experience in commodity trading, sourcing, or agribusiness
Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields (Any of Social or Management Sciences).
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in commodity trading.
Strong understanding of commodity markets, trading principles, and risk management.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to travel extensively and engage with suppliers.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make informed decisions.

Commodities to be traded:

Agricultural commodities (e.g., grains, oilseeds)
Energy commodities (e.g., crude oil, natural gas)
Metal commodities (e.g., copper, gold)
