Cleaner (Sunshine Person)

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

The Sunshine Person is responsible for ensuring that the standard and quality of the school and the hygiene within the department is maintained at the highest level at all times. This role is very hands-on, requiring attention to detail and a positive work attitude.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Clean, stock and supply designated school areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning)
Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs
Perform and documents routine inspection and maintenance activities
Service, clean and supply restrooms
Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners in order to prevent damage to floor and fixtures
Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
Clean and polish furniture and fixtures
Clean windows, glass partitions and mirrors, following Job Manual
Strip, seal, finish and polish floors
Empty trash and recycling receptacles into the appropriate waste bins and ensure that receptacles are kept clean and free from smell
Vacuum all carpeted areas and spots
Clean and disinfect restrooms and ensure that soap and paper dispensers are well-stocked

REQUIREMENTS

Capable of following instructions and learn new cleaning techniques
Demonstrate an understanding of standard cleaning supplies and equipment
Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
Possess a strong attention to detail

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

Senior Secondary School Certificate or O-Level;
At least 2 years’ experience
