Job Summary
The Site Engineer is responsible for managing and overseeing construction projects, ensuring that they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Their duties include supervising workers, coordinating with subcontractors, inspecting the work site, preparing progress reports, and ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations.
They are also responsible for resolving any issues that may arise during the construction process and ensuring that all work is carried out to the client’s specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Managing the planning and design stages of construction projects.
Contributing technical expertise to project drawings and designs.
Ensure preparation and installation of preliminary site works before commencement of a new project.
Prepare program of work and Work Breakdown Schedule and ensure it is followed as planned
Preparing construction plan and follow up the plan
Liaising between contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
Overseeing construction engineering processes.
To prepare material request according to work program and also based on necessary for work progress.
Ensure quality of construction works.
Performing regular tests on materials and procedures to ensure compliance with industry regulations.
Ensuring that the construction project is completed on time and within budget
Submit weekly activities reports to the project manager
Ensure labour and materials are available on site.
Documenting processes and keeping detailed construction logs.
Conduct on-site investigations and analyze data (maps, reports, tests, and drawings).
Provide advice and resolve creatively any emerging problems/deficiencies.
Make requisitions for suppliers, labour and as may be needed.
Ensure all approved drawings are always on site.
Technical monitoring of ongoing civil Engineering work.
Ensure timely completion of works as per planned schedule.
Identify problem areas and provide appropriate solution for all service and engineering related issues.
Overall management of all projects assigned by the authority.
Quality control of the construction work of the project.
Comply with guidelines and regulations including permits and safety, deliver technical files and other technical documentation as required.
Perform any additional assignment as directed by the Project Manager
Experience and Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field
Proven experience as a Construction Site Engineer or similar role
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment
License as a professional engineer (preferably e.g. COREN, MNSE)
Experience managing large construction projects
Knowledge of building codes and regulations
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in engineering or related field.
