Job Purpose

This position reports to the Managing Director/CEO
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be responsible for planning, directing and will oversee the company’s operational policies, rules, initiatives, and goals
The successful candidate will help the firm to execute its long-term and short-term plans and directives by implementing judgement, vision, management, and leadership
S/He will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to execute the company’s vision, put procedures and resources in place to promote scaling, expansion, optimize inefficient areas in the organization and coordinate with other department heads
S/He will be the company’s second-in-command and responsible for the efficiency of business
S/He will support the CEO in leading and influencing the implementation and achievement of the current and future strategic and operational plans as per the approved Corporate Plan
S/He will ensure a strong Risk, Compliance and Governance Framework is embedded across the company
The COO will have the mindset to assess and mitigate principal risks and compliance of the firm’s business, together with its growth and profitability and insure that appropriate management and technological systems are in place for delivering the expected services and performance standards
S/He will be accountable for developing new business opportunities and sustaining valuable relationships with private and public sector stakeholders to ensure the firm’s continuous expansion and business growth.

Qualifications/Experience

Must possess a Degree or Postgraduate qualification in Banking related discipline (Economics, Accounting, Finance & Management). Membership of a recognized professional body is a prerequisite for this position
Must possess fifteen (15) years of cognate work experience in banking or Finance industry inclusive of 5-7 years in management position in a commercial or investment bank
Must have ability to measures effectiveness and efficiency of operational processes both internally and externally and finds ways to improve processes
Must possess exceptional leadership and management skills with a focus on securing strategic partnerships, business planning, people and financial management
Must possess strong Credit Risk Management and Lending background and experience
Must demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for an organization’s vision, and motivates, leads and empowers others to achieve organizational goals
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders and commercial enterprises to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals
Promotes communication between colleagues for the benefit of information flow and to curb any problems that arise
Must have integrity, honesty and high sense of responsibility.
