Business Development Manager

Job description

The Business Development Manager (BDM) for KongaPay will be responsible for driving strategic partnerships, market expansion, and revenue growth. This role requires a proactive and results-driven professional with a strong understanding of the fintech landscape, digital payments, and e-commerce ecosystems. The BDM will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to identify new business opportunities, negotiate partnerships, and ensure sustainable growth.

Business Development & Strategy:

Identify, develop, and execute strategic partnerships that drive user acquisition, transaction volume, and revenue growth.
Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, competitor activities, and business opportunities.
Develop and implement business development strategies aligned with KongaPay’s growth objectives.
Drive customer and merchant adoption of KongaPay by promoting its value proposition.

Partnership & Relationship Management:

Build and maintain strong relationships with financial institutions, payment processors, merchants, and other key stakeholders.
Negotiate and structure deals that maximize mutual benefits for KongaPay and its partners.
Represent KongaPay at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance brand visibility.

Sales & Revenue Generation:

Work closely with the sales team to onboard merchants and expand the KongaPay user base.
Develop pricing models, sales pitches, and business proposals to attract and retain partners.
Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to optimize revenue streams.

Product & Market Expansion:

Collaborate with product, marketing, and technical teams to enhance KongaPay’s offerings.
Provide feedback on user experience and market demands to drive product innovation.
Explore opportunities for geographic and sectoral expansion of KongaPay’s services.

Compliance & Risk Management:

Ensure business development activities comply with regulatory and compliance standards.
Work with legal and compliance teams to structure agreements that mitigate risk while maximizing business opportunities.
Stay up-to-date on fintech regulations, payment policies, and industry best practices.

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or a related field. An MBA or relevant certification is an added advantage.
5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships within the fintech, payments, or e-commerce sectors.
Strong understanding of digital payments, mobile money, and financial technology.
Proven track record of developing successful partnerships and driving revenue growth.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to change, and meet targets.
Proficiency in data analysis and market research tools to drive informed decision-making.
