Business Developmeent and Tenders Executive

Job Purpose: 

The Business Development & Tenders Executive will provide support to the Business Development Manager in identifying new business opportunities, supporting the tendering process, and ensuring successful submission of bids. This role will involve close collaboration with internal teams, including project managers and technical specialists, to achieve business growth through successful tender and proposal management.

Main Responsibilities:

Proposal and Tender Management:

Prepare and submit tender documents in response to RFPs (Request for Proposals), and EOI (Expressions of Interest).
Assist the Business Development Manager in gathering the necessary technical and financial data for RFP submissions.
Ensure timely submission of all EOIs & RFPs, while maintaining compliance with client requirements and industry standards.
Assist in analyzing and evaluating tender documents and specifications, highlighting key areas that require special attention.

Business Development:

Perform research (newspapers or online) to identify new opportunities and engage with other executives to establish strategies for pursuing those new opportunities.
Establish and maintain relationships with key decision-makers, stakeholders, and potential clients to generate new business leads.
Conduct research to identify potential associates for collaboration.
Conduct regular Follow up to track the status of the submitted proposals.
Provide Support in closing deals with prospective clients, ensuring contracts align with company goals and profitability.
Attend industry events, conferences, and networking functions to build a professional network and gather market insights.

Contract Management & Compliance:

Assist the Business Development Manager with contract negotiation, review, and execution processes, ensuring all terms align with company objectives.
Provide Support in Implementing and maintaining best practices for contract management, including renewal processes for staff certifications and company licenses.
Liaise with cross-functional teams to ensure project delivery aligns with client expectations and contractual obligations.
Coordinate with the Finance department to recover outstanding payments and ensure all financial terms are met. 

Reporting and Administrative Support:

Maintain accurate records of all tender submissions, including bid status, timelines, and outcomes.
Assist in preparing reports on all business development activities, including new websites, ongoing projects, active proposals, and opportunities.
Provide administrative support in managing contract documentation, including reviewing terms and conditions.

Key Qualifications & Requirements:

Education 

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
Proven Industry Experience 
Minimum of 4 years’ experience in business development, and Client relationship management, ideally within the architecture or engineering consultancy industry.

Proposal and Tender Management Expertise:

Extensive experience preparing winning proposals, tenders, and contracts for both small and large-scale projects. 
Strong verbal and written communication skills, to effectively present value propositions to clients and to connect and engage with senior stakeholders.

Project Acquisition Expertise:

Proven track record in lead generation, business development, and client acquisition.
Experience in identifying and securing large-scale public and private sector projects, particularly in engineering, construction, and infrastructure. 
Experience working on government tenders and contracts with international Funding Agencies (e.g., World Bank, African Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank) is a plus.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Experience working with internal teams, including technical, finance, and legal departments, to ensure seamless project execution and delivery.

Professional Certification:

Membership with COREN, COMEG, CORBON, or similar certifications will be advantageous.
Certification in HSE is a plus.

Skills & Competencies:

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, stakeholders, and decision-makers
Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
Proven leadership and team management abilities.
High attention to detail with strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational and reporting skills with a goal-oriented mindset.
