Bookkeeper/Accountant

Job Description

Develops system to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts;
Maintains subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions.
Balances subsidiary accounts by reconciling entries.
Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries.
Balances general ledger by preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries.
Maintains historical records by filing documents.
Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
Liaise with client regularly to get bank statement and other transaction records.
Processing sales invoices, receipts and payments
Completing VAT returns
Advising clients on accounting issues
Conduct periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure their accuracy
Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
Establish tables of accounts, and assign entries to proper accounts.
Represent clients before taxing authorities
Liaise with auditing partners in getting audited financial statement
Liaising with tax consultants for getting tax clearance certificates on behalf of client
Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting and other tax requirements.

Qualifications

A minimum of HND/BSc degree from a reputable university
2-3years experience in similar role
Must be good with accounting packages like Sage, Wave, Xero

Good knowledge of taxing issues in Nigeria
Ability to multi-task
Professional composure
Good communication and presentation skills
