Associate Legal Counsel

About the role:

The Associate Legal Counsel (Legal, Compliance and Human Resources) will play a key role in ensuring strict adherence to legal and regulatory frameworks while providing strategic legal guidance to colleagues and the company. You will provide strategic legal advice, ensure regulatory compliance, and support human resources functions to uphold the company’s legal and ethical standards. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and possess strong analytical and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

Provide accurate and timely legal counsel on a range of legal, compliance, and HR matters.
Advise on internal governance policies, monitor compliance, and recommend improvements to mitigate legal and regulatory risks.
Evaluate legal risks associated with business decisions and operations, providing practical, business-oriented solutions.
Offer proactive legal advice on emerging issues to support strategic objectives.
Engage with external stakeholders, including regulators, external counsel, and public authorities, to build and maintain strong relationships.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to protect the company’s interests.
Provide legal support for HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary processes.
Manage employee-related legal matters, including disputes, grievances, and contract negotiations.
Prepare, coordinate, and take accurate minutes during executive and departmental meetings, ensuring timely distribution and follow-up on action items.
Assist in drafting executive reports, presentations, and briefing materials as required.
Manage and organize key documents, ensuring efficient filing and easy retrieval when needed.
Support the management of the company’s Compliance Management System (CMS).
Develop and deliver employee training programs related to legal compliance, corporate governance, and ethical standards.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in law (LL.B.) and a B.L.
Minimum of 4-5 years of post-qualification experience in a reputable law firm or corporate legal department, with exposure to legal compliance, HR-related matters, and executive support.
Strong knowledge of corporate law, regulatory compliance frameworks, and risk management principles.
High level of professional ethics, integrity, and sound judgment.
Proven experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and legal advisory.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other relevant tools for document preparation and meeting management.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively.
Strong sense of confidentiality and discretion, especially when handling sensitive legal and executive matters.
