Assistant Store Officer

Salary : N 100,000 – N120,000

Key Responsibilities:

Inventory Management:

Assist with receiving and inspecting incoming materials and tools for quality and quantity.
Record and maintain accurate inventory records, ensuring that all materials are properly accounted for.
Monitor stock levels of raw materials, spare parts, and other necessary supplies, and alert supervisors when stock is running low.
Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile any discrepancies.

Material Issuance:

Issue materials, tools, and equipment to the plant workers and departments as per their requirements.
Ensure the correct handling and issuance of hazardous materials following safety guidelines and procedures.
Maintain records of materials issued and returned to ensure traceability.

Store Maintenance:

Keep the store area clean, organized, and safe to ensure the efficient flow of materials.
Ensure that stored materials are labeled clearly and are stored in designated areas according to material type and safety guidelines.
Maintain proper ventilation and cleanliness in the storage areas for safety compliance.

Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of material receipts, issues, and stock levels.
Assist in inventory audits, ensuring all records are accurate and reflect the actual stock.

Quality Control and Safety:

Inspect incoming materials for defects or damage and report any discrepancies to supervisors.
Adhere to the plant’s safety standards and regulations when handling and storing materials.
Follow proper protocols for handling and storing hazardous materials or chemicals as per plant safety guidelines.

Communication & Coordination:

Coordinate with other departments to ensure that required materials are available on time for production.
Communicate effectively with suppliers, store managers, and other plant staff to ensure the smooth flow of materials.
Support in the preparation and management of orders for raw materials and supplies.

Equipment and Tool Management:

Assist with the tracking and management of tools and equipment used in the steel manufacturing process.
Ensure that equipment is in good working order and available for use when needed by the team.
Report any faulty or damaged equipment to the maintenance department for repair.

Requirements:

Education: HND /OND or certification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field is a plus.
Experience: Previous experience in inventory management or a warehouse/store assistant role is preferred, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

Skills:

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to use inventory management software and basic computer applications.
Knowledge of safety standards and material handling procedures in an industrial setting.
Ability to lift heavy materials (physical stamina is required).
Computer Knowledge is a must (Word/Excel / Power point)

Working Conditions:

Full-time position with potential for overtime depending on plant requirements.
The role involves working in a steel plant environment, which can be noisy, hot, and physically demanding.
 Workwear, safety shoes, and protective equipment (PPE) will be required.
