Job Summary:
The Assistant Oil Palm Manager supports the Oil Palm Manager in overseeing the entire plantation’s operations, ensuring the implementation of best agronomic practices to achieve optimal yield and productivity.
The role involves supervising daily field operations, coordinating workforce activities, monitoring plantation health, and assisting in strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
Assist in planning, supervising, and coordinating daily plantation activities, including planting, fertilization, weeding, pest control, and harvesting.
Ensure the effective implementation of standard agronomic practices for oil palm cultivation.
Workforce Coordination:
Supervise field supervisors and plantation workers to ensure smooth operations.
Allocate tasks and monitor worker performance to optimize productivity.
Assist in recruiting, training, and mentoring plantation staff.
Crop Monitoring and Management:
Monitor crop growth, health, and yield to identify and resolve issues such as pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies.
Recommend and oversee the application of fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides.
Harvesting and Yield Optimization:
Assist in planning and executing timely harvesting activities to ensure highquality oil extraction and reduced crop losses.
Monitor harvest efficiency and suggest process improvements.
Resource Management:
Ensure the proper use and maintenance of plantation machinery, tools, and other resources.
Manage procurement and distribution of farming inputs.
Record Keeping and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of plantation operations, including workforce activities, input usage, and yields. Prepare and submit detailed reports to the Oil Palm Manager.
Health, Safety, and Compliance:
Enforce health and safety protocols on the plantation.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards.
Budget and Cost Control:
Assist in budget preparation and ensure costeffective plantation operations.
Monitor expenses and suggest measures for cost optimization.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field.
5+ years of handson experience in oil palm plantation management.
Strong knowledge of oil palm agronomy, pest and disease control, and harvesting techniques.
Experience in workforce management and resource allocation.
Proficiency in recordkeeping, reporting, and data analysis.
Familiarity with agricultural machinery and inputs.
