Job Description:
Our Client is seeking a qualified Accountant/Auditor to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing financial audits, managing tax compliance, preparing financial statements, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. Ideally, the candidate will have 5 years of relevant experience in accounting and auditing within the hospitality or resort industry, with a strong understanding of taxation. The candidate should be proficient in accounting software, have a keen eye for detail, and be ready to handle a fast-paced work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Audits & Compliance:
Conduct thorough audits of financial records, ensuring accuracy, compliance with local regulations, and adherence to company policies.
Prepare and present detailed financial statements, income statements, and balance sheets for management review.
Taxation & Tax Compliance:
Manage tax-related matters, ensuring timely and accurate tax filings.
Ensure compliance with tax regulations and handle processes for tax clearance.
Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns, including VAT, corporate income tax, and other relevant taxes.
Liaise with tax authorities and handle tax audits or any disputes that may arise.
Financial Analysis & Reporting:
Provide insightful financial analysis to senior management, assisting in key decision-making processes.
Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts to align with the resort’s financial goals.
Monitor financial transactions, identify discrepancies, and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
Accounting Software & Data Management:
Oversee the resort’s use of accounting and auditing software, ensuring data entry is accurate and reporting is efficient.
Ensure financial records are updated in real-time, maintaining the integrity of accounting data.
Internal Audits & Process Improvement:
Perform periodic internal audits to assess the effectiveness of accounting practices and financial systems.
Identify areas for improvement and work on enhancing operational efficiency and internal controls.
Training & Mentoring:
Provide training and support to junior accountants on accounting software, tax regulations, and financial reporting.
General Accounting Support:
Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Support financial operations to ensure smooth day-to-day financial activities.
Requirements:
Gender: Male (preferred)
Experience: Minimum 5 years in accounting and auditing, with a focus on tax-related matters. Prior experience in a hospitality or resort setting is a must.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
ICAN certification (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria).
Skills & Expertise:
Strong understanding of taxation laws, tax filing processes, and tax clearance.
Expertise in accounting and auditing software, with proficiency in financial reporting systems.
Deep knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and auditing procedures.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
