Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Account Officer to manage financial transactions, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with financial policies within our fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company.
The ideal candidate will oversee account reconciliation, manage customer accounts, support credit control, and collaborate with sales and finance teams to optimize financial processes.
Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable and receivable.
Prepare financial statements, reports, and reconciliations in line with company policies.
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Ensure timely processing of invoices, payments, and receipts.
Account Reconciliation & Credit Control:
Reconcile customer and supplier accounts to ensure accuracy.
Monitor outstanding payments and follow up on overdue accounts.
Assist in credit risk assessment and ensure compliance with credit policies.
Work closely with the sales team to resolve disputes and discrepancies.
Compliance & Internal Controls:
Ensure all financial transactions comply with company policies and industry regulations.
Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.
Implement internal controls to prevent fraud and financial mismanagement.
Collaboration & Process Improvement:
Work closely with sales, procurement, and finance teams to streamline financial operations.
Support process automation and improvements in financial reporting.
Provide insights and recommendations to enhance financial performance.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
3–6 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the FMCG industry.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, SAP, QuickBooks, or other ERP systems).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and credit management.
Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, ICAN, CPA) is an added advantage.
Experience working with distributors and retailers in FMCG.
