Job Purpose
The Account Officer will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial record-keeping, supporting financial operations, and maintaining compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including receipts, invoices, and payments.
Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
Support the monitoring of project budgets and ensure expenditures align with approved budgets.
Conduct regular bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Ensure timely preparation of accounts in line with donor and NGO-specific reporting standards.
Ensure compliance with donor regulations, tax laws, and internal financial policies.
Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary financial documentation.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 2–3 years of post-NYSC accounting experience, preferably in an NGO setting.
Proficiency in preparing accounts and financial statements in line with NGO-specific requirements.
Strong knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems.
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Added Advantage:
Knowledge of accounting practices specific to NGOs.
Experience in donor-funded projects.
