Position Overview

Sea learn Academy invites applications from accomplished individuals for the esteemed position of Junior Lecturer in Maritime Studies.

The ideal candidate will play a key role in providing top-tier maritime education, collaborating closely with senior faculty members to enhance student learning experiences and academic outcomes.

Key responsibilities include leading project planning and execution, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets while maintaining high-quality deliverables. You will coordinate cross-functional teams, facilitate communication between stakeholders, and address any issues that may arise to mitigate risks. Additionally, you will monitor project progress, conduct regular status updates, and implement corrective actions as needed to achieve established goals.

Collaborate with senior faculty members to support the creation and development of curricula, as well as the preparation of courseware and other educational resources.

Guided by senior staff, design and produce comprehensive courseware while conducting engaging lectures, presentations, tutorials, and hands-on practical sessions covering essential maritime topics including navigation, seamanship, cargo handling, environmental protection, maritime safety, and related disciplines.

Assist in designing, evaluating, and refining student coursework and examination materials to ensure educational standards are met, and learning outcomes are achieved.

Deliver comprehensive academic assistance to students to enhance their learning experiences and academic performance.

Ensure a comprehensive understanding of current maritime industry practices and regulatory frameworks.

Attend departmental meetings, engage in academic planning initiatives, contribute to quality assurance processes, and participate in professional development activities.

Participate actively in academic pursuits, exploring avenues for research initiatives and enhancing professional qualifications through advanced learning opportunities.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s Degree in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science, or a closely related discipline is required, with a Master’s Degree—or progress toward one—considered a strong advantage.

A minimum of five years of seagoing experience is required. Candidates must hold a recognized professional certification, such as a Master (F.G.) or Chief Officer Certificate of Competency, issued by a reputable Flag administration. Additionally, applicants should have served in a management-level role, specifically as a Master or Chief Officer.

Possesses a certification in ‘Train the Trainer’ and/or ‘Train the Simulator Trainer,’ which has received official approval from Administration.

Teaching or training experience—whether formal, informal, or integrated into professional responsibilities—offers a valuable advantage.

Proficient in international maritime regulations, with a strong command of the Standards of Training, Certification, and Watch keeping (STCW) requirements.

A commitment to advancing one’s academic credentials and actively participating in ongoing professional growth initiatives is essential.

Familiarity with educational theory and the development of instructional materials for learning programs would be beneficial.

Proficiency in utilizing maritime simulators and e-learning platforms is required.

Proven ability to thrive in collaborative academic and multicultural settings, demonstrating adaptability and respect for diverse perspectives.

Dedication to upholding excellence in educational practices and fostering an environment of continuous improvement in both teaching and learning outcomes is paramount.

Proven ability to communicate effectively, build strong interpersonal relationships, and deliver compelling presentations.
