Honeywell International Inc. is a leading American multinational conglomerate renowned for delivering a diverse portfolio of commercial and consumer products, engineering solutions, and aerospace systems to a broad spectrum of clients, including individual consumers, multinational corporations, and governmental entities. The company operates through three strategic business units: Aerospace, Automation and Control Solutions (ACS), and Performance Materials and Technologies (PMT).
As a distinguished member of the Fortune 100, Honeywell ranked 74th on the 2014 Fortune 500 list. With a global workforce of approximately 130,000 employees—of which around 58,000 are based in the United States—the company is headquartered in Morris Plains, New Jersey. David M. Cote serves as the current Chief Executive Officer. Honeywell and its predecessor entities held a longstanding position in the Dow Jones Industrial Average from December 7, 1925, until February 9, 2008.
Honeywell International Inc. emerged from the 1999 merger of Honeywell Inc. and Allied Signal, with the latter acquiring the former. Although the headquarters were initially consolidated in Allied Signal’s Morristown, New Jersey, location, the combined entity adopted the “Honeywell” name due to its strong brand recognition.
The company boasts several well-known consumer brands, including its line of home thermostats—particularly the iconic round models—and Garrett turbochargers. Beyond its own product offerings in home automation, such as thermostats, sensors, security systems, and air purification and humidity control solutions, Honeywell also licenses its brand for use in a wide range of retail products manufactured by partner companies, including air conditioners, space heaters, fans, security safes, portable generators, and document shredders.
