About Google Nigeria

Google is a leading American multinational technology enterprise focused on Internet-based services and products. Its offerings encompass digital advertising solutions, search technologies, cloud computing infrastructure, and software applications. The company’s primary revenue stream originates from Google Ads, an online advertising platform that prominently displays ads alongside search results.

Founded in 1998 by Stanford University Ph.D. students Larry Page and Sergey Brin, the duo retains approximately 14% of the company’s shares while exercising significant influence through super voting stock, controlling 56% of shareholder voting power. Initially established as a private entity, Google went public on August 19, 2004, following its incorporation on September 4, 1998. From its inception, Google’s guiding principle has been to “organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful,” with its informal motto being “Don’t be evil.” The company relocated to its current headquarters in Mountain View, California—dubbed the Googleplex—in 2004.

Since its founding, Google has expanded rapidly through product innovation, strategic acquisitions, and partnerships, venturing beyond its foundational search engine. Its portfolio now includes online productivity tools such as Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, and Google+. On the desktop, Google provides applications for web browsing, photo organization and editing, and instant messaging. The company spearheads the development of the Android mobile operating system and the Chrome OS, a browser-based platform for Chromebook devices. Google has also made significant strides in communications hardware, collaborating with major electronics manufacturers to produce its high-quality, cost-effective Nexus devices and acquiring Motorola Mobility in May 2012. In 2012, the company launched a fiber-optic network in Kansas City to support its Google Fiber broadband service.
