"Global media leader CANAL+ acquires MultiChoice for African expansion."
Founded four decades ago as a French subscription-TV channel, CANAL+ has since evolved into a prominent global media and entertainment enterprise. On 22 September 2025, the company announced its acquisition of effective control over MultiChoice Group and the initiation of its merger process. MultiChoice, recognized as Africa’s foremost entertainment provider, delivers an extensive portfolio of offerings, including DSTV, Got, Showman, M-Net, Super Sport, Ireton, and Kingmakers. The newly formed entity boasts a subscriber base of 40 million across the globe, operates in more than 70 countries, and employs approximately 17,000 staff members.
